Innovation. Defined as the application of information, imagination, and initiative in deriving greater or different value from resources to be converted into useful products.
This is what is expected of applicants who strive to become CPRIT grantees. It is also the standard we have set for our first Innovations in Cancer Prevention and Research Conference.
To stand apart from the many other scientific and oncology conventions that occur every year, CPRIT is harnessing its unique place in the industry to share a new perspective on the ideas that can make a difference in the fight against cancer.
The conference program, developed by committees under the leadership of Ray Dubois, M.D., Ph.D., of M.D. Anderson Cancer Center and Amelie Ramirez, Dr.P.H., M.P.H, of University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, offers thought-provoking topics that will share the progress that has been made in the areas of cancer research, prevention and commercialization as well as open the minds of the attendees to the trailblazing opportunities that lie ahead.
Specialists from across the country, including our renowned members of the CPRIT Peer Review Committees, with a keynote by Nobel Laureate Phillip Sharp, Ph.D., have been recruited to provide insightful discussions during the panel and keynote sessions throughout the two-and-a-half day conference. CPRIT’s 2010 grantees will also have the opportunity to present their ground-breaking projects that will showcase how high the bar has been set by Texas.
CPRIT is keeping its focus to the future and we look forward to having your participation in our exploration of innovative cancer prevention and research opportunities.
